(Answer) (Category) SCO UnixWare 7/OpenUNIX 8/OpenServer 6 FAQ : (Category) System Administration :
How do I send a pop-up message to the Windows machines on my LAN?
Please see http://www.samba.com.

on older UnixWare 7/OpenServer 6 sytems.
With Visionfs, root can send a broadcast pop-up message to Windows machines. The command is something like:

/usr/vision/bin/visionfs message --to luke --from Sysop Hello World.
The message can be longer than Hello World. The message can be longer than one line and formatted. Send the message with quotes, and you'll see your secondary prompt, usually >, indicating your shell is waiting for you to complete the command (which needs the ending ")

    # /usr/vision/bin/visionfs message --to luke --from Sysop "
